Jem is the type of person who usually just goes with the flow of things. He really isn't the type to get mad, preferring a more relaxed approach to things. Because of his laidback personality, he doesn't do much in standing up for himself, it usually gives people the means of walking all over him.
Though when it comes to protecting someone he cares about, you'll find that he can be quite vocal. However, he would never physically hurt someone. He prefers just trying to talk the problem over and isn't really one for violence. When it comes to his temper, he is pretty passive aggressive. He usually keeps his anger hidden from other people, his anger only surfacing when his buttons have really been pushed. People often see him as being a coward, just for this reason. But that isn't necessarily true, he just prefers being the voice of reason in most situations. He just sees it as him being responsible.
Some people would describe Jem as a bleeding heart. He is quick to help those in need, without really thinking about the consequences. The young man is quite sensitive to those around him and is good at picking up the more negative emotions of people. If someone doesn't want him around, he is quick to pick up the hint. When it comes to the happiness of other people, he is quick to try and keep the people around him happy.
Honesty is everything to him, but he struggles when it's a good time to blurt out the truth. The young man also struggles with the delivery. Despite being somewhat warm and fuzzy, the same can't be said when it comes to telling the truth. Jem doesn't believe in softening or sugar-coating the truth, preferring to tell it like it is. This sometimes gives people the impression that he isn't as nice as he seems.

BIOGRAPHY
Jem doesn't really talk much about his past and doesn't like people trying to pry into his past. He was born over two hundred years ago to John and Hannah Wickers. Coming from a wealthy family meant he wasn't really free to make his own choices. Everything was decided for him.
It was a life he was use to. His parents controlled every aspect of his life and he just wanted out. A few times he even tried to run away, but he was stopped every time. He was only a prisoner in his own home or that was what he told himself.
When he was thirteen his mother introduced him to Clarissa, he took an instant disliking for her. She was shallow and looked down on those who were less fortunate. He tried being polite to her though. However when he found out she was going to be his future wife, he lost it.
A huge fight happened and everyone let their anger get the best of him. His father told him he wouldn't let his son ruin everything they had worked so hard for and if he insisted on not marrying Clarissa, he wouldn't be welcome in the house and definitely wasn't his son.
That night Jem packed up his stuff and took off. He left no note explaining where he was going, knowing his parents would just track him down and he wasn't really sure where he was going. This all happened around the age of seventeen. And it was the first time he had ever been on his own.
Being on his own didn't really bother him though, it was better than feeling like he couldn't make his own decisions. It was nice being able to think for himself, not having to worry about anyone telling him what he could and couldn't do. It wasn't like he would get into anything bad. His parents had at least taught him the difference between good and bad.
For awhile he tried mingling with the people around him, but he eventually got word that his parents were trying to track him down. Apparently his parents weren't planning on letting him just walk away. They would make him marry Clarissa rather he wanted to or not. He hoped if he disappeared for awhile they would give up, so that's just what he did.
He kept his distance from people as much as he could and usually stayed in his wolf form. Due to the color of his fur he was often mistaken for a dog, so it was easy to steal food from humans. Though he would take off the second humans got to close. None of the humans interested him enough that he was willing to make any of them his eve.
Years passed and he finally made his way to Kamakura. It was after he was finally getting settled in Kamakura that he met Sage. He was in an alley scrounging for food when she found him. She grabbed him before he could react. He didn't want to risk hurting her, so he just let her take him with her. It was more than likely she took him because she thought he was a stray dog.
He was a little scared of revealing himself as having a human form, because he was worried she would run around telling everyone. He was hoping he would be able to slip away at some point. But he ended up shifting into his human form without thinking when she ended up hurting herself. Just because she was human didn't mean he couldn't worry about her.
