What a nice day! It'd be a perfect day for a picnic with Minerva. Umiko was at school, and her parents were at work—there'd be no better time to sneak out for a picnic than now. AListair hadn't been spending that much time with Minerva lately, she must be getting lonely...and it would be his job to fix that! Minerva was his responsibility, after all. He smiled at Minerva, then he made his way downstairs humming to the tune of Boum. Once he reached to bottom of the stairs, he stopped in his tracks to ponder where the Ito's kept their picnic basket. He knew they had one—he could remember clearly a few years back when they all went out for a picnic. He shrugged it off and went to the kitchen, making sure to grab some money from the family's funds along the way, and took the time to make some daifuku, dorayaki and rice pudding and packaged them into a separate containers. He made two sandwiches as well, one for himself, and one for Minerva. He placed six plates on the counter top as well—they'd be needing those. He went back out towards the living room and started looking for the picnic basket again. After ten minutes of searching, he finally found it in a closest. There was a large blanket next to it, and he took that as well. Wouldn't want to eat on the ground, would they? He chuckled at the thought. Still humming to the same song, he folded the blanket up and placed it on the couch then he went back into the kitchen with the basket to neatly package to food he placed into containers into the basket along with the plates he set down. He, of course, dropped all the candy he had in his pocket into the basket. A picnic would never be complete without sweets! Sure, almost everything in the basket was sugary food but that didn't matter. He'd buy them some hot tea and he'd make sure to snatch them some melonpan on the way to the park. He'd snatch the hot tea as well, but it was hard to steal drinks. That's why he took some of money from the family's rainy day funds. It wasn't too much, he was sure they wouldn't notice it. He went back to the living room and grabbed the blanket, placing it between the basket's handle and his arm. After making sure it was securely tucked, he made his way upstairs to go get Minerva.[break][break]
"Minnie! I got everything ready!" He announced to the doll, grabbing her and placing her on his shoulder. Today was going to be a good day, and he knew that. But first, he had to fill his pockets back up with candy. You could never run out of sweets! Without further ado, he went back downstairs and left the house, making sure to lock the door on the way out. He'd simply fly back in through the open window in Umiko's room, carrying Minerva in his beak. He'd leave the basket by the front door and run downstairs, unlocking the door and bringing in the basket. He'd have to wash the containers, but that was a given. He wouldn't make Umiko do any of the clean up work for him. The park was in the next town over, but he wouldn't mind the walk. Minerva loved nature walks, so he'd make sure they took the most scenic route there. He looked at the doll he had on his shoulder and smiled at her again—Minerva was such a dear. She was always so cute and generous. She deserved only the best and he'd make sure she got it. On the way to the park, they trekked though a small forested area. Minerva would get a kick out of this![break]
"Beautiful, isn't it, Minerva?" He asked gently—so different from his usual loud self. He made sure to always be quiet and gentle arond Minerva—she was a delicate flower. The forest lengthened the trip, but Minerva was pleased! That's all that mattered to him. The walk to the next town over took a good three or four hours, but they made it! The park wasn't too far away. On the way, they saw some stray cats. He looked at Minerva and smiled at her.[break]
"Look, Minnie! Wanna closer look?" Using his swift speed, he caught one of the cats—a calico—and moved it closer to Minerva. She loved animals, and Alistair knew that. After a few minutes of letting Minerva examine the cat, he placed it back on the ground. He smiled at the cat as it ran off to join back up with the other cats. The park was just up ahead! He wouldn't run like he usually would. He knew Minerva never liked it when he ran when she was on his shoulder—she could fall and that wasn't any good. She didn't like the accelerated speed either, it make her nauseous. He continued talking to her on the way to the park—he didn't have a single care about any of the people who were staring at him, talking about him quietly between themselves. Sure, Minerva was a doll, but she was her own person as well.[break][break]
On the way to the park, Alistair stopped by a cafe and ordered two melonpans and two cups of hot tea. He would've stolen the melonpans if they weren't behind display glass, but they were. The park was just across the street, so the tea wouldn't cool down anytime soon. Alistair set the basket down on the counter and placed the melonpans into the basket and he made sure to use both his hands to carry the teas. Smiling at Minerva, he told her they were almost there. He knew she was pleased about that. She enjoyed their trek there as well. Today was a good day indeed. He exited the cafe and started to walk across the street, walking slowly and carefully so Minerva didn't fall off his shoulder and so he wouldn't spill the tea. Both would be tragic, but one more so than the other. Once they reached the park, Alistair started to look around for a good spot. There were picnic tables about, and no one was using any of them. That'd be the perfect place to set everything up. He placed the cups of tea on the bench along with the basket, and grabbed Minerva, giving her a peck on her head, and put her on top of the basket. He grabbed the blanket and unfolded it only to neatly fold it in half and place it over the table. Perfect! He picked up Minerva and placed her on the table, then grabbed the basket and did he same thing with it, placing it on the table and opening it. Next was the cups of tea. He placed one before Minerva, and as for the one he bought for himself, he took a sip before setting it down. Afterwards, he grabbed the plates from inside the basket and set them down, one in front of himself and one in front of Minerva. He grabbed them each a daifuku and placed it on the plate.[break]
"Enjoy!" He told Minerva. He hoped he prepared them to her liking. He dug into his daifuku, and he found it delicious. Curious, he looked around the area. He wondered who was all here. He saw some kids playing tag, some people siting on benches and some people just talking. He turned his attention back to Minerva. She was enjoying the picnic! This was great! With how many people were out and about, maybe they could make a new friend. He hoped so—especially for Minerva. Most people just laughed when he introduced her. They were always saying she was just a doll and that a grown man shouldn't be playing with them. The insolence! Not only did they insult Minerva, they insulted him. It always hurt Minerva's feelings, and he wouldn't stand for it. He'd cut that person off then and there. Umiko wasn't like that at least. She found how he treated Minerva weird, but she never insulted them. If anyone approached them, hopefully they wouldn't be so rude. They had enough food for an extra person after all—Minerva had a light diet.
