Spring break has finally kicked off! All the students are now enjoying their two weeks of freedom without any classes. With the seniors graduating this year the school has decided to host their annual Masquerade ball for everyone in town. Yes, even people from the neighboring town are invited to the ball. With the student council and the staff working overtime the ball is finally ready! Yet something is different about this year's event. It may be because the senior members of student council decided to go out with a bang,
Christina had a chance to finally get to talk with Rowan, it had been nice. But all good things had to come to an end when she had found herself having to return home even though she really didn't want to. As she opened the door, she was greeted by her grandparents, both were strict. The door closed behind her and she once more remembered the best part about school, seeing as it was always far worse at home. Her grandparents would use verbal against her, they also had moments of getting physical if Christina didn't do exactly as told.
She was being punished for her mother's betrayal after all. Ever since her mother had disgraced her family, business for them had gone down. They were still doing fairly well but not as well as they could have been if their daughter had followed through on how they had raised her instead of choosing freedom and happiness over the wealth they would have surely gave to her. Christina was raised much more strict than her mother had been, since her grandparents had lost their daughter, they believed there was a high chance of their granddaughter slipping away too, it wasn't something they were willing to chance parting with.
She would be the reason for their wealth coming back, the abuse was just the start of her training in this unfree life. They wanted her to do everything perfectly, she was to be married off, but the only way to do that was to impress. They had set her up for dancing lessons, as well as some piano, but were very pleased to hear her singing. They weren't pleased to hear how determined she was to stick around her friends and those sports.
Sports got pretty dirty, it was something for a boy to enjoy and even then they believed the boy to have limits on that type of enjoyment, as for friends, they believed only those as rich as them or even more rich deserved to associate with them, which meant their granddaughter had to have the right kind of friends or none at all. The hours seemed to fly by pretty quickly, she hadn't told Rowan that it was worse at home, the last thing she wanted was to risk having him worry about her.
She made her way towards her window, opening it up as she slowly started climbing out of it. Her grandparents wanted her to wear formal clothes, so she was in a nice dress with white flats. If she could, she would spend her time outside instead of stuck in her bedroom. Of course the pain her grandparents had put her through, still had her shedding tears as she gripped onto the window seal, trying to keep her grip so that she wouldn't fall and injury herself.
rowan had rushed home. he couldn't believe he had let that happen. he just wanted to forget the day and avoid any contact with that girl. he was such an idiot. he had forgotten to ask for her name. he laid on his bed. looking at the bracelet she had given him.
he sighed as he got up to put on some music. he was currently alone in the house. he figured his parents were both still working. he was used to it. he didn't understand why they couldn't just leave him behind. he was still mad. as he walked past his window something caught his eye. he smirked slightly and shook his head. what was that girl thinking? he debated calling out to her.
what was she doing climbing out her window, in a dress nonetheless. he opened his window. it didn't take him long to change into his animal form. he scurried like her down to the ground.
It was hard to keep her grip on the window seal as she reached for the side of the house, trying to slip her fingers onto the drain pipe as she slowly slid down it. As she made her way to the ground she had taken notice of the ferret heading straight towards her. Salem of course still had the bracelet that she had given it before. "Oh thank god, you still have it." She thought to herself, whipping a tear from her eyes. If only I could be as free, like you, my friend. She thought to herself as she brushed her dress with her hands. She had climbed out the window, but that didn't mean that she wanted her dress all over the place when she had finally made it to the ground.
I'm going to have to climb back up later, else I risk more beatings from them. She thought to herself, since coming home the wounds from those trio had been long since forgotten because she was thinking about the ones her grandmother had given to her only recently. "Salem, your lucky, you can go where ever you want." She answered, trying to decide on if she would tell her ferret friend about Rowan or not.
"Today wasn't all that bad though, I got Rowan to talk to me. He may not say it but I think he likes sports. He really likes that bracelet his friend gave to him, why else would he had kept it on. Their friendship must be really special. Still I have my fingers crossed for him to learn to like sports, they can be pretty fun after all." She had forced a smile on to her face, it was all she could do to avoid crying again. "My grandparents hate it when I've finished playing baseball... or any other sport for that matter."
She hadn't meant to rant, but it had come out and it was to late to take it back now. "They want me to be like the daughter they never had, I think they are taking their anger on my mother on me... I got to be perfect else they aren't happy." That small smile was still on her face, "I'm unsure on why they took me into their home, when my parents died they could have let somebody else raise me but they chose that for themselves... Maybe they did it because they planned to make my life horrible here." Had she known Salem, her ferret friend, was Rowan, she wouldn't have confessed such things right now.
he waited for her to be on the ground before scurrying up and resting on her shoulder. he couldn't believe she had mistaken him for a girl. of course salem wasn't the worst name she could of picked for him.
what the hell was he doing. he should of been avoiding her, yet here he was hoping to be cuddled. stupid animal. he thought of himself, but it was nice. he was here to comfort her. honestly that's what he would say. he wondered if he should tell her who salem really was. she seemed like such a happy girl. it pissed him off. how could her own family treat her like crap.
he'd been quiet but it slipped out. it wasn't like him apologizing was going to make her life better."i'm sorry."shit why the heck did he just say. he needed to leave now. he wiggled and jumped off of her as he started away from their homes.
Christina snuggled with Salem, enjoying the comfort of having her ferret around. If it hadn't been the fact he apologized, she would have thought Salem to be a girl forever. To scared to check the gender, it was a good thing too since Salem was a servamp, or Rowan was. She was shocked, picturing Salem talk she would have at least thought the voice to come out more female. She rubbed her eyes, Salem had already ran away from her. "Wait, come back Salem... Was it the girl comment?" She asked, feeling bad for assuming such a thing.
"I didn't know you were a male I swear..." She found herself taking chase after him, having a hard time keeping up from her new injuries. "I... I can't keep up..." Her voice came out as a whisper as she continued following after him. The only reason she had come to a stop, is because she had tripped over herself. "Ow..." She mumbled, slowly leaning up to see the scrap on her knee.
he had managed to escape her clutches. honestly it wasn't her fault. it was his. he could he have been so stupid and spoken. he was an idiot. the hell was he trying to do? blow his cover. he frowned at himself as he made his get away.
ducking behind houses and rushing past a group of people. he had no idea where the hell was going and a couple of turns here and there made him lost his sense of direction. he had heard her calling out to him. he didn't hear her footsteps behind him. he stopped and turned around to see her, but he didn't.
crap. he lost her, but was that really his intention? without a second thought he tried to remember the last place he had heard her. she was the only one who knew how to get home. he shifted back into his human form. it would be easier for him to walk than scamper around in his ferret form."shit what's her name."he couldn't even call out for her.
Christina heard a noise from behind her, turning her head she noticed a teen age boy coming towards her. At first she didn't move, it hurt to try. It was how he spoke that got her moving, pressing her hands against the ground she forced herself to stand up. This boy was acting real weird, it was creeping her out. When she opted to move away, his talking got even creepier.
"Stop following me." It was fear, maybe this was Salem, this is what she got for calling him a her. But then again this boy didn't have the charm on his wrist so she told herself she was acting crazy but needed to move. Running away was proving harder then she thought, each time she moved her knee she felt like she'd lose her balance and topple over herself. I wish Rowan was here, but he is likely still at home. She thought to herself, unaware that he was searching for her. She ran forward, trying to keep her distance from the servamp who was following right behind her.
"Keep running, I want to tire you out before I have more fun with you." His words rang in her ears, she was scared, scared of him catching her, scared of what he'd do to her. It was hard to hold back tears, being scared out the outcome, the pain in her knee hurt and just like that, she tripped over herself. Christina scurried to her feet, but the servamp was within reach. He pushed her back onto the ground, then laughed. Out of all the places Christina had ran to try and ditch him, she had picked an abandoned alley. Now he had her right where he wanted her. As he leaned closer, Christina screamed.
something didn't feel right. he should of bumped into her right about now. he was sure he retraced his steps correctly, well for the most part. he had been running and not looking at where he was going. he hated feeling panicked, but that's what he was feeling as he tried to calm his nerves and continue retracing his steps.
he stopped to catch his breath. which way should he turn. left or right? he didn't have much time to ponder the question when he heard a scream not to far from where he was standing. left. his feet began to move, slowly picking up speed. he felt like a fool leaving her behind."where are you?"he yelled as he tried to figure out where he had heard the screaming from.
he wasn't going to find her from down here. he figured if he got up higher he'd be able to find her. so he scaled a wall. he ran over rooftops and stopped when he noticed two figures."hey!"he yelled as he jumped towards them."what the hell are you doing?"he called out to them as he walked closer to her."leave her alone."
Christina pressed her hands against his chest in an attempt to push him away from her, but the servamp countered by grabbing her wrists with his left hand to pin her on the ground. Somebody, anybody, help me... Please... She thought to herself, pulling her knee in slightly, she kneed him hard, which made him release his grip and stumble back. "You'll pay for that..." The servamp snared, making his way towards Christina, he forced her up to her feet before shoving her against the wall.
"Get off of me..." Christina tried yelling but her tears made her quiet against her crying. There was a force in the distance, that voice she knew him from somewhere. Rowan... The servamp yanked Christina off the wall before holding her back against his chest in a firm grip. "Get in line, I had her first." The servamp snarled at Rowan, just to be told to leave her alone.
"Leave her alone? Why don't you leave us alone. We were about to have fun. Weren't we, human?" He asked, breathing his question into her ear, watching her flinch in reaction made him laugh. "I think after I kill you, I'll bring you back as my subclass, than we can have even more fun." Once more whispering into Christina's ear. Human? Why'd he call me that.... He is human too, isn't he? Oh my god, he plans on killing me? Let me go... I don't want to die. She forced herself to look at Rowan, wanting nothing more than for him to save her.
"Save me... Please..." That plea, the servamp holding her, pulled a knife out from his pocket, it was just a normal knife, he didn't plan on bringing out his weapon unless Rowan planned to attack him. "Say good by to your servamp friend, human..." The servamp answered, pressing the knife up against her neck, planning on cutting across with it. My... Servamp... Friend? She was surprised by it changed nothing. "Rowan... Please... Save... Me..."
at last he finally found her. he stared the guy down. avoiding eye contact with her. he didn't want to take his eyes off the guy. especially the way he had her pinned. he didn't want to risk making a move and have that end up hurting her.
he felt like an idiot. he really should of paid attention when his parents mentioned her name. he hadn't bothered learning it, but yet she remembered his. he didn't say a word. he simply shook his head a playful smirk appearing on his face.
he wondered how smart the vampire was. could he trick him or did he have to use physical force. did he ruin it by telling him to let her go? he shifted his weight to his other foot."come on now, im just as hungry as you are."he smirked."you aren't going to at least give me one bite?"he chuckled softly. he gestured with his hand."just one tiny bite and she's yours."
he took a couple of steps forward trying to figure out what he could use to throw him off or to literally throw at him. he spotted his weapon, but he was going to wait till he spoke."listen darling, be a good girl and keep your mouth shut. the vampires are talking."he didn't look at her as he said this. he was trying anything to throw this vampire off.
The servamp looked at Rowan with some interest. "You should go find yourself your own human, I had her first. Besides I risk you killing her first and making her into your own subclass." Of course sharing had been an interesting idea, it certainly would scare the shit out of this human and that appealed to him. Rowan had taken a couple of steps towards them.
He smirked when Rowan had told the girl to be quiet, pointing out the vampires were talking." It seemed this guy had little respect for them as much as he did, maybe even a little bit more. "Okay fine, but just one bite." The servamp answered, he was in process of releasing her when Christina had suddenly grabbed for the knife that the servamp had in his hands before pulling it from his grip, of course that meant her hands would be cut in the process, but being tossed from one vampire to the next, there was no way in hell she was going to allow Rowan to bite her.
"The hell." The servamp spoke, frozen in his spot for a minute. "Stupid human, you shouldn't have moved without permission." He hissed, pulling out more knifes, he wasn't going to waste his weapon on her. "Stay back." The comment had been against the servamp and Rowan, seeing as Rowan had been planning on drinking her blood just like this other servamp had been. Be quiet? When I'm on my death bed.... Who does he take me for? A quitter?
It was hard to hold this knife when her hands were bleeding all over it. I'm having such a hard time holding this stupid thing.... She thought to herself, choosing to throw the knife towards the servamp that had first attacked her. The action had caught him off guard, but it was all she needed to try and get away, with any luck, Rowan was distracted by her action that she'd be able to escape both of them.
rowan had to be careful. he couldn't believe how stupid this guy was. he had taken a couple of steps towards them and he was allowing it. he had let his guard down. did he really want to bite her? he had been planning on letting the contract cancel itself out. she wasn't leaving him much choice. rowan sneered."the hell i want with a stupid subclass. she's all yours after i get my first bite."he smirked at her, finally looking at her directly.
rowan seemed to light up when the vampire finally agreed to one bite. he had taken a couple steps forward when she completely caught both of them off guard. he stopped mid step and frowned. what the hell are you thinking, idiot. he thought to himself as he tried not to yell at her. she was ruining his plan with her stupid bravery.
she held the knife and he laughed."don't be stupid."he grinned at her as he walked closer to her."poor baby hurt herself. come here and i'll take care of you."he wished he could just tell her he wasn't going to hurt her. that he was actually here to save her, but he had to keep up this act. he was going to keep walking towards her when suddenly she threw the knife at the other vampire. great. give him more weapons he thought to himself. he could of used that knife.
he backed up slowly watching her carefully in case she tried to make a break for it. she had distracted him for a bit when she had thrown that knife. if she'd try to run past him he'd try to catch her wrist and pull her back to him. as long as she was with him, he'd try to keep her safe.
Christina was determined to not be bitten by any vampires, it was bad enough that Rowan was her neighbor, which meant he knew exactly where she lived but she would deal with that problem once she got out of this one. That smirk on his face had made her cringe slightly, it was easy for her to find herself disappointed in his choice of words. She asked to be saved, not vampire bait, but here he was, wanting to drink her blood like this other one.
Watching Rowan frown when she had freed herself from the other servamp had been priceless, it turned out she still had a few tricks up her sleeve after all. Rowan had told her not to be stupid, then egged her on with his other comment. She had chosen to throw the knife at the other servamp but if he thought she'd give up that easily to get away from them, he had another thing coming.
With the two vampires distracted, she chose now was the perfect time to try and slip by Rowan, but her fleeing failed when she felt his hand grab her wrist before pulling her into him. "Let me go... You can't have my blood." Christina found herself squirming in Rowan's grip. The other servamp just smirked over at Rowan, hiding the rest of his knifes away again, choosing to take the time to carefully lick the blade of the one that had her blood all over it. "Hurry up and get your bite, I want her back."
he had to give her props for trying to runaway."i thought you weren't the type to run."he teased her with a smile. he had managed to switch his attention back to her when she had attempted to escape. he latched onto her wrist and pulled her towards him."don't rush me."he glared at the other vampire.
he held her close, but unlike the other vampire he choose to look her in her eyes."im here to save you? don't you trust me?"he wasn't going to bite her just anywhere. she was already bleeding. he moved her bleeding palm closer to his lips."i'll explain everything..."he told her as he licked the blood from her wound before sinking his fangs into her flesh.
what the hell was he thinking. he should of just ran with her. he knew the vampire would be pissed and come after them. they had to finish him off, he wasn't going to be able to do it alone."not all vampires are bad."he told her as he released her."i don't share my eve's blood with scum like you."rowan told him with a smirk.
"just like you gave me a present, you have one too."he said as he held the wrist with her bracelet on."i meant what i said. it's tacky."
Christina frowned when Rowan had told the other vampire not to rush him, she didn't want to share her blood with anybody and yet, here Rowan was, planning on drinking from her anyway. She looked into Rowan's eyes, she was confused, how could he save her if he planned on drinking a little bit of her blood and tossing her back over at the other vampire. Trust? Would I be foolish enough to trust him? She thought to herself, feeling him moving her bleeding palm closer to his lips. I don't get a chose in the matter, but I can still guilt him.
"Of course I trust you Salem." She paused, "Rowan." She had to correct his name, seeing as she had named her ferret friend Salem, and Rowan wasn't a ferret or at least she didn't think so. His fang sank into her palm and she flinched as she felt him sucking on her blood. Rowan released her and told her that not all vampires were bad, then told the other servamp he didn't share his eve's blood. Eve's blood? Wait... I'm an eve? She thought to herself, looking at Rowan just to see him smirking. Rowan then mentioned a present, she was confused as hell what he meant about that but she did notice the bracelet he was wearing as if he was hinting it had been her to give it to him.
"I gave it to Salem..." She paused, "Wait, your my ferret friend?" Maybe it was the fact that he had called the bracelet tacky, "It is not tacky... and as I said, your friend is going to drag you to sports..." It was a promise she planned on keeping, just as soon as they weren't near the servamp anymore. He had mentioned present to her, she found herself toning in, trying to figure out what this present would be, as soon as she had finished picking a gift, she found herself once more standing with Rowan, holding a baseball bat in her hand. "Oh... Very nice." She would be able to use this, even with her cut hands, speaking of cut hands she would have to wrap them up later.
