Events
Spring break has finally kicked off! All the students are now enjoying their two weeks of freedom without any classes. With the seniors graduating this year the school has decided to host their annual Masquerade ball for everyone in town. Yes, even people from the neighboring town are invited to the ball. With the student council and the staff working overtime the ball is finally ready! Yet something is different about this year's event. It may be because the senior members of student council decided to go out with a bang,
Kai really didn't like any of the students that went to his school. The guy his teacher had just paired him up with was no exception. He wouldn't shut up about how great of a person he was, and it was starting to get on his last nerves. "Can you shut up so we can actually get this assignment done. The faster we finish the faster I can get away from you," he managed to spit out through gritted teeth. All that got him was a glare and a monologue about how he was just jealous and wanted to be him. He returned the guys glare before getting up. He really didn't feel like dealing with these people. He knew he would probably disappoint Andre, but he would deal with that later. Heading over to the teacher he asked her if he could go to the bathroom. The teacher barely spared him a glance as she hadn't him a pass to use the bathroom. Thanking the teacher he walked out of class.
However he headed in the opposite direction than the bathroom. He knew he would easily be caught if he wandered the halls, so he made his way towards the roof. People usually didn't come up here when classes were in section. Though some people may come up here during their lunch break. Luckily he was able to make it up to the roof without attracting unwanted attention. That was probably because everyone else was in class, and he knew how to avoid any of the staff that wandered the halls to make sure everyone was where they were suppose to be. However he never saw any of the adults come up to the roof top, probably confident with their ability to catch students when they were in the hallway. It was a bad idea to underestimate the sneaking skills of a kid, because he definitely knew how to sneak around.
Leaning against the railing that prevented anyone from falling off the roof he sighed. It nice to actually get some peace and quiet. And it was good not to have to deal with idiots like his project partner. One bad grad wouldn't hurt him to bad, and he could easily make up for it. It wasn't beneath him to do some extra credit to get his grades up. If the teacher asked him why he hadn't returned to class he would just claim he had gotten sick. That was usually the excuse he used whenever he cut school or class. It kept him from getting in trouble. Saying another class mate was getting on his nerves wasn't really an excuse he could use, unless he wanted to get in trouble. If getting in trouble wasn't so annoying he wouldn't care if he got in trouble. The last he wanted was to spend any more time than he needed to with a teacher. Of course he would probably just end up skipping detection if he ever got it. The sound of the door opening pulled him out of his thoughts but he didn't turn to see who it was, figuring it was one of the shyer students who sometimes come up here for a quiet place to read.

IF WE'RE ON THIS SHIP AND IT'S SINKING THEN WE MIGHT AS WELL HAVE A PARADE
Andre often found himself bored with classes, not because he didn't like learning, but because they were so slow. He could understand things pretty quickly so being forced to wait behind for everyone else could be a bit painful. Instead he found that getting homework done before the class was even over kept his mind busy while the teacher was still teaching the same lessons. He had put in a formal request for advanced classes, and he had received notice that he would have to take a pre test later that afternoon after school was out. It was almost a little exciting to think about being in advanced classes where he was actually tested on his skills.
The servamps mind had been wandering a bit to much as he absently chewed on the pen cap as his eyes glanced out the small window in the classroom door. Just as a flash of yellow seemed to pass. The chewing stopped for a moment and he happened to wonder if that was the flash of blonde he knew very well. The servamp pondered for a moment before quietly getting up and moving to grab the pass to the restroom without disturbing the teacher and only nodded slightly as the man nodded back in a silent okay as he continued to teach the rest of the class.
Once outside the black haired male glanced back and forth and sighed, well it wouldn't have been that easy right? Instead he casually walked along the halls and despite better judgement checked the bathrooms finding them empty. So, maybe he was wrong but there was one more place that he know the blonde would go to get away from the school. So he made his way to the roof with as good avoiding skills as anyone though he was sure that he could talk his way out of it with a charming smile. Finally he found himself at the door and opened it.
Part of him had hoped he was wrong but all of that faded away when he saw him. Even from the back he knew exactly who it was, but he wasn't quite sure that Kai knew who he was. He quietly closed the door back and walked about half of the distance between them before coughing to get his attention before speaking. Though he was sure the other would know who he was before even turning around by voice alone. "I thought you were doing better about skipping, Kai?" he asked before continuing in his pace to instead stand next to the blond subclass and lean his own arms on the railing.
"Is everything alright?" he asked worry etched in his tone and in his eyes. He always worried the most about Kai, he always had a bad time with these kinds of things. "Do you regret my decision to come to the school?"
Kai heard the person halt a bit behind him but still didn't turn around. It was until he heard the attention seeking cough that he knew who it was. It was just his luck that it would be Andre who came across him. This was the first time he had actually seeked him out when class was in session. It wasn't like he didn't care about his own grades, because he would go out of his way to do any extra credit work to make up for it. He could do the work the school provided in his sleep if he wanted to, and that was the reason he never saw the harm in skipping from time to time. Most of the time it was because a class mate ticked him off. He usually didn't plan to skip, and it usually just happened on a whim. He slowly turned to face his friend but had his eyes fixed on the ground. He was sure the servamp was disappointed in him for cutting, and he really didn't like causing problems for his friend.
"I'm trying. I will do the extra credit to make up for it." he said quietly, turning back around when his friend had joined him at the rail. He kept an eye on his friend from his peripheral vision, so he noticed when the worry stretched across his expression. He really hated when his friend was worried about something, expecially when it was directed towards. And yet knowing his friend was worried about him brought forth another emotion. He knew what it was but it always made him feel weird, he decided it would be best if he just push aside that emotion for now. The last thing he wanted was to tell Andre about his troublesome classmate. He knew Andre would want to take some form of complaint to the office. His partner hadn't technically done anything wrong, he had just been full of himself.
However he had never been the best at keeping things from the other male. He could easily lie or keep things from other people, but he had never been able to do the same with Andre. The other male had this effect on him that made him just want to pour his heart out. "Same thing that usually happens. Teacher paired me with another annoying classmate." he said, before telling his friend about the student the teacher had paired him up with. He had pretty much left instead of continuing a petty argument. He knew the teacher wouldn't have allowed a change in partners if he had asked. He had tried it once and the teacher had just told him to deal with it before dismissing him back to his partner. "It would be fine if the teacher would actually give me a partner I can actually work with, instead of a partner that is just fine sitting back letting me do all the work."
He actually looked directly at his friend for the first time since he had come out here, when he heard his last question. "No I understand why you did it. You know that I pick up things quickly though. I'm to use to having to think on my feet, so it's the way I tackle learning things in school." He picked up things quickly because not doing so would have meant his death a long time ago. Before he had met Andre he had being teaching him the things he needed to know, just from listening to the people around him. "Enough about me. Are you really taking so test to get you in advanced placement?" he asked.

IF WE'RE ON THIS SHIP AND IT'S SINKING THEN WE MIGHT AS WELL HAVE A PARADE
It would always worry Andre the most when it was about Kaito, the blonde was rather important to him just about as the other was to him. Of course, Andre was also an idiot when it came to feelings like that, and instead he simply rolled with the feeling that the blonde was really important to him but not about the other emotion that meddled with that care. So knowing that Kai was having a hard time really made Andre sad, sad and wishing that he could help more than what he currently was. Seeing him up here always made him worry about the other and if his decision had been the best at bringing the both of them here to this place.
When he moved beside the other he knew that Kai felt like he was going to be reprimanded and that wasn't what the other was trying to do. Andre just wanted to make sure that everything was okay, even if he was a little sad that Kai still wasn't fitting in like he hoped he would. "I'm sure your grades will be fine, you've always been good about doing stuff like that to make it up." he said and moved to instead lean his back against the railing and move his arms to lean against the bars. If he was going to be up here he might as well enjoy it.
Andre felt a frown form his face, but more that Kai was still having issues about being paired with someone he wasn't capable of working with. It was a reoccurring problem the vampire had noticed, but nothing had been done to actually fix it. A small sigh finally came from him as he let his head fall back and stare at the sky. "It's really annoying hearing that you are still going through the same problem. I'm sure you know how I feel about it, and that I would say something to the headmaster, but I'm sure you're also against that." he said. "So, I won't do it, if you don't want me to, but it really makes me sad your having so much trouble. " he said.
That would be the only thing that he would say on the matter, he was sure that Kai would figure out what to do on his own. As long as the subclass didn't actually hurt anyone Andre would respect his decision. Yet when he saw his friend look at him Andre moved his head as well so he could look at the other and match his gaze. "I just... want to make sure that you can find peace here too. I think it's a good idea - I still think it is. I honestly think with the way you work, you would be okay to take advance classes too, but again that's up to you." he said shrugging some.
"Yeah - I have it after school today, so I'll be back later than normal." he said with a small smile. "It will definitely help me out too." he said with a chuckle. "I've been having my own problems of getting bored, but obviously it's not on the same line of your issue. " the black haired male frowned for a slight moment before looking back at his dear friend. "You don't have a problem with me taking advance classes do you?"
Kai waited for the other male to reprimand him. He wouldn't hold it against the other male if he did, but it never came. In fact Andre just seemed worried about him. He couldn't help but feel guilty over what he had expected of Andre. He supposed old habits really did fall hard. In the orphanage he had been unwanted and yes the people who had run the orphanage had only really paid attention to him when it came to getting onto him. Andre wasn't like that though. He would always see if there was actually a reason behind what he was doing, instead of just assuming he was doing it just because he wanted to. That was one of the things he really liked about Andre, one of many. Of course as always he pushed aside those greater feelings he was feeling. They made him feel weird, and he wasn't sure yet if he liked how they made him feel. It often left him feeling frustrated for some reason, but he never let Andre know about all of this.
He was pulled out of his thoughts when the other male spoke, and he couldn't help the small smile from tugging up the corner of his lips. Andre was the only one who could make him smile. Around others he never smiled. He only felt comfortable smiling around the other male. "Well as long as the teachers are fine with me doing extra credit I don't mind doing it. Though I think the other students think the teachers are favoring me or something," he said rolling his eyes. That couldn't be further from the truth. If the teachers were favoring him than why was he continually paired with someone he couldn't work with. If anything the teachers probably hated him or something. Or maybe he was just reading to much into it. It wasn't like he had really done anything to make the teachers hate him. He never even really spoke with the teachers.
He than told his friend about the reason he was out here. He hated keeping things from the other male. It usually made him so guilty that he would only be able to keep it hidden for a few days. So it was as best to just get it over with. Instead of getting exasperated like some of the teschers would get, Andre just became even more emotions. Like always the other males concern made him feel conflicting emotions. He listened to what the other male had to say and was already shaking his head before the other male shook his head. The last thing he wanted was for the students to think he had to run to Andre to fix his problems. He was pretty sure that wouldn't end well. He could definitely picture them calling him a wimp or sissy if they didn't think he could handle his problems on his own.
"No, no it's fine. I'll figure something out. And don't worry I'll make sure it doesn't involve causing trouble. And thanks for not going to tell the principal. I don't want everyone thinking I can't solve my own problems," he said. He wondered how long that would actually last though. He figured it would be best if he figured something out as soon as possible. As always he couldn't avoid looking at Andre for to long. And before long he found himself looking at the other male. He hadn't sounded disappointed, and he didn't look disappointed either. He was relieved that his friend actually wasn't disappointed in him. He frowned thoughtfully when Andre began to talk. It was true that he could probably take advanced classes, but he still wasn't sure if that was what he wanted to do. "It's getting easier, I'm getting use to being surrounded by people at least," he said with a shrug.
"I'll think about it." was the only thing he said to the suggestion that he also took advanced classes. It probably wouldn't take him to long to come to a decision though, he usually made a decision in a about a day or two. "Don't worry about it. I think I'm suppose to be working late anyway. I'm suppose to be taking over someone else's shift as well as my own. She called in sick or something," he said with a shrug. He really didn't mind working extra shifts, but when he worked extra shifts he often forgot about eating. He nodded in agreement when Andre talked about boredom. "Yeah it's not really challenging is it. It would be great if I could get the same challenge in class as I do when I play shogi." He was caught off guard when his friend asked if he had anything against him taking advanced classes. "Of course not. I just want you to be happy. You should do whatever makes you happy," he said, with a reassuring smile.

IF WE'RE ON THIS SHIP AND IT'S SINKING THEN WE MIGHT AS WELL HAVE A PARADE
Andre could be disappointed sometimes, but it really wasn't because of Kai, in fact, most of the emotions he felt was either worry or happiness at being around the other. It was very rare that the vampire was angry, upset, or disappointed in the other and in those rare instances he normally forgave the blonde quickly and once more was in good graces with the other. Andre was for the moment more worried than anything about the other. In fact, he really just wanted to make sure that Kai was okay and could continue to go to school even if he obviously wasn't really happy with it.
"Well that's a relief, though I still feel bad that students aren't really being nice. I haven't really met anyone that I didn't really get along with - though I think that's just the difference in our personalities." he said shrugging a little. "I still wish that I could do more to help you out here - I'm hoping you'll make a friend at least one, that you can spend some time with and smile more. " he couldn't help but give a small chuckle. "Not that I mind being the only one that keeps all your smiles." he said giving a derpy grin at the thought.
To be fair, Andre had expected that kind of response from the other as he had called it. Kai had always been the type to handle these kind of things on his own even if Andre wanted to help. And for a small portion of it he did agree that Kai should handle his own problems, it was just... hard to watch sometimes. Kai could take on so much burden on himself Andre found it hard to watch sometimes seeing him struggle so much. Andre had to respect his choice though and for now he would back off and hope Kai would take care of it on his own.
"I'm sure you can solve this... I just hope you don't make yourself suffer too long." he said with a sigh before letting the rest of it go. For now he would be content with that and let his friend do what he wanted from here on out. At least for now that would be the best option, and Andre would respect what Kai wanted even if he really wanted to just handle it himself. But thankfully kai was quick to distract him again as he looked back up to hear what the other was saying.
"Well, at least there is that. The more you get used to people the better." he said nodding. Hopefully soon Kai would find a friend, Andre didn't want to be replaced, not at all, but having a friend would make Kai have a better day when Andre couldn't be with him twenty four seven. "Yea, take your time no rush at all, I'm sure you'll come up with the right thing to do." he said nodding at his response to advanced classes. It made him feel better that Kai wouldn't be alone either while he was testing and would have to pull a double shift.
"In that case I'll probably bring something home for dinner and wait for you." he said with a smile. It would be at least something for the blonde to look forward to. "I never really liked Shogi, but I get what you mean." he said with another smile, right now he was lounging most of the day cause it was so boring. Thankfully at his question the blonde didn't seem mad at all in fact he almost looked surprised at being asked the question. Andre really did care about the others opinion about everything he did after all.
"Yea, I think it will to be honest. It would give me something to do rather than lounging around all day. It really makes me happy that you approve as well, so thanks." he said giving the other another of his smiles. He really was happy that Kai didn't have anything against taking advanced classes, he just hoped it wouldn't take away too much time from them spending it together like they did now.

CURSED TO NEVER BE ALONE
and to always be on my own
Kai often times wished he could be as outgoing and friendly as the other male. He knew it would definitely make it easier for him to make friends, like Andre was pointing out. Kai and Andre were polar opposites but despite that they were the closest of friends. That proved that sometimes even the less friendly of people could make friends. Though it wasn't like Kai was actually going out of his way to try and make friends. He just wasn't the best at making friends, not like Andre.
"It's fine it's nothing I'm not use to," he said with a shrug. That was more or less true. Andre had been his first friend. Even the other kids in the orphanage hadn't wanted anything to do with him. "Something tells you would be able to becoming friends with a convicted felon and make him change his ways. I mean you became friends with me. You were pretty presistent though and wouldn't take no for a answer, but I'm glad I actually let you accompany me though."
"You've been plenty of help, who knows where I would be before I met you. I was so bitter and angry when I met you. I could've of become a common criminal if I hadn't met you. I was so scared to let anyone in, but I wouldn't change the way things were. I'm sure I'll find another friend some day, probably when I least expect it." In his opinion things always ended up happening when you least expected. When he heard his friends next comment he felt those unwanted emotions coming back. He knew his heart would be racing and he would be blushing. It was easy to keep certain emotions hidden now that he wasn't human.
"Well I don't just give them away to anyway, there has to be a certain amount of trust between me and the other person before I can smile for them. There's no one I trust more than you, so you're the only one that gets my smiles. Plain and simple," he said, smiling slightly. His words just hid what he was really thinking.
He could tell the other male wasn't to happy about him handling the problem on his own, but he knew the other male wouldn't step in unless it was absolutely. He glanced at the other male when he heard his response, and his expression softened. "I'll try my best to deal with this problem as soon as possible. I really don't like worrying you after all." he said. Around Andre he always felt like he could let his guard down, around others he always remained guarded.
"I suppose so. It's just hard for me to trust those around me," he said with a shrug. He knew that was one of the reasons he had such trouble making friends. It was hard to make friends with people when you didn't trust them. He listened to what his friend had to say, happy that his friend had so much faith in him. "It's just something I shouldn't take lightly." Of course when they started talking about Andre taking the test for advanced classes he had to admit to having to pull a double shift.
When he heard the other male would wait up for him with supper he couldn't help but smile. "That would be great. I never give getting something to eat while I'm working. So at least it'll mean I eat something tonight instead of not having anything until breakfast in the morning." he really should get better at taking a break while he was working. But he only thought about the job at hand while he was working. He chuckled at his friends obvious dislike for shogi. "So you tell me everytime you see me playing. It's good for strategic thinking," he said with a shrug.
Of course he was quick to reassure the other male when he thought he would be upset with him taking advanced classes. It was pretty much impossible for him to have any ill feelings towards the other male. Andre pretty much had him wrapped around his finger, though he would never admit to such. "Don't sweat it was nothing really," he mumbled, clearly embarrassed by the other males gratitude. Before meeting Andre no one had ever shown him gratitude, so he still wasn't exactly sure how he should react when it was directed his way.
A easy going kid at heart, Andre is the exact opposite of what you'd think a vampire should be like. With a pretty messed up past, he's kept his happy go lucky attitude and swears that he will protect his most important person so no one can take him away.

IF WE'RE ON THIS SHIP AND IT'S SINKING THEN WE MIGHT AS WELL HAVE A PARADE
Oh Andre could never truly say how much he hated when the blonde said that line, not that he was mad, but that it hit his heart right in the middle. Right where it hurt everything and where he was the most easy to hit, because Kai meant so much to him. So to hear him say that he was used to it really jabbed a knife into the already hurt wounds he carried. Sometimes it was easier to help carry the burdens of others, and Andre would happily bare any cross that Kai would let him. Maybe one day it would reap the benefits of the blonde not saying such things. Yet for now he would let it go again letting out a soft sigh and not saying what he wanted to what his heart yearned for. That one day he would never have to say such lonely words again, but Andre would take his time and heal one wound at a time.
A small chuckle came at the words the other said, because it wasn't a lie but Andre didn't think he would go that far. "I'm not sure about all that. I'm a strong believer that people can change though, people just need to be more open with each other. I'm sure everyone has something they regret and things they wish for more than anything else. I don't think these are weakness', no I think they are hidden strengths. Because, having such yearning for something..." he paused and green orbs glanced up at the sky with a small smile. "I think it's what makes us all connected, it's how we can learn from each other and help heal what we can't alone."
Another laugh came now as he rubbed the back of his head. "But that's a little deep for school hours." he said dropping it now even though he knew that in a way Kai had fixed some things about him to. Despite what the blonde thought Andre hadn't always been as outgoing, or rather while he had he was still lonely inside. He really didn't have anyone else either, they were two people from the same coin, suffering through the same things. Funny how two people from a shared background could have turned out so differently, and Andre didn't want Kai to become filled with hate and resent for all his life. There was much, much more to the world than the terrible things he had found.
"That's the spirit." he said lightly hitting the blonde on the back. At least Kai was being optimistic about the future, something he wouldn't have done when they had first met. "I'm sure you'll find them, but you'll always have me too right?" he said giving the other his charming smile. Andre had no intention of leaving after all, it was his duty to protect Kai now, and he would make sure nothing happened again. He would become stronger to protect the people that really mattered to him. Thankfully the conversation shifted away from the past and towards the future with the response the blonde gave about smiles.
"I see, well then that whole friend thing is really important then." he said with a chuckle. It wouldn't hurt to see Kai with more people to talk to, but a part of him might have wanted to be selfish for just a little bit longer. After all, Kai's smiles had been his for as long as they had been together. Yet Andre would admit that trust was something hard to give away, Andre himself was a very trusting person, and he had been burned by people before. He didn't want the same to happen to Kai, especially when he had a hard enough time as it was.
"Don't think to hard about it, when it happens it will happen. There is no super logical way to go about it really." the blackette said kicking his leg slightly against the wall. Another bright smile came however when it seemed to excite the blonde that he would bring home dinner and they could spend some time after everything was done and over today. "I'm really glad you approve then!" he said letting the excitement feed his energy like it normally did. Yet a slight pout came at the mention of the other not eating which always bothered Andre.
"Kaaaaaaiiiiiittttoooooooo~" he whined a little extending the blondes name longer than necessary. "You have to take better care of yourself, or at least don't tell me when you don't." he said putting that goofy grin back on his face. "You'll get thin if you don't eat." he said moving now to pull slightly at the blonde's cheeks gently to try and stretch them some. "Seeee." yet as soon as he had played with the others cheeks he had pulled away again knowing it would probably embarrass the other.
Still, this entire conversation up here was what they needed, he was sure of it. Things were off their chest and they could now concentrate on the rest of the day. Locking his hands behind his back the blackette skipped a bit forward towards the door. "I feel much better now Kai, knowing that you're okay and that you approve. I feel like a million bucks, and that I can definitely blow the socks off that test today." he said grinning a big grin and looking back into blue orbs. "So, what do you say? Wanna head back with me now? Or are you gonna stay up here a little longer?"
